Competition on Fourth Avenue

The Hove Mind Sports Club is about to launch on Friday in the large building housing The Hove Club at the top of Fourth Avenue. We, members of the B&HCC, are invited to attend the Opening Night which the website promises to be "an unmissable night planned in our amazing Grade II listed building by the sea. With a Champagne reception, food, well stocked bar and an array of games and events, you will certainly not want to miss out". Raymond Keene will be amongst the attractions playing a ten person simul.

Dieppe 2013

This year's trip to Dieppe will be 31st August/1st September with our match on the Sunday. I will be putting a list up at the club for those interested.

Olivier has asked whether we would like to take part in the annual Festival which takes place in the week leading up to our match. Paul Selby has already booked up for this so a few more might make for a small party. More details are available on L'Echiquier Dieppois website.

Summer Rapidplay Tournament

The Summer Rapidplay is now launched with the chart up on the noticeboard at the club. For further details please see the 2013 SUMMER RAPIDPLAY TOURNAMENT RULES. The tournament is open to a maximum of 24 - rather an experimental format so we'll see how it goes!

First Team Success

The First team with a 4-1 victory against local rivals Knoll Knights were to clinch the League Division 1 title. This follows on from the same achievement last season. Well done to all who represented the team this current season. The hat-trick next season is not completely beyond the realms of possibility and with hard work and perseverance may yet be achievable.

Gatwick W/E

Two outstanding results in the e2e4 Gatwick congress over the weekend with Mustapha coming third in the U2000 and Terry dropping only half a point to come joint first in the U1750 - in spite of being 33 grading points below the limit. An amazing result! Callum and Robin also played in the U2000 and Michael Cain and Grant in the U1750. For all those who missed it there's another one 7th-9th June.
